Comments Gandhi

  1. I actually liked this book because of the format and layout of the pages It s simple to read it s for kids so some of the language is a bit dumbed down, but that s ok and I think this would be a good starter book for an adult who wonders who s this gandhi guy It s by National Geographic and I look forward to reading their others in the series Mandela, Elizabeth I and Galileo.

  2. Gandhi never laid out a systematic theology Thankfully, he had redactors who did it for him later, and this is the text that is the result It s a comprehensive collection of Gandhi s writings on a variety of religious spiritual topics Since these articles letters weren t written with the intent of being collected into an anthology, there is a fair bit of repetition, and so it is not nearly as accessible as Satyagraha in South Africa and certainly not as accessible as the autobiography the latter [...]

  3. Gandhi by Philip WilkinsonThis book is an autobiography of the famous Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi The book retells Gandhi s life through four key events of his life his early years, Gandhi as a student and lawyer, his return to India and his struggle for freedom Gandhi was the youngest son of a rich prime minister, who was born in India The book begins with events that happened in India which at the time were ruled by the British, but it ends with Gandhi becoming a world famous leader who steers [...]

  4. Gandhi The Young Protester Who Founded a Nation chronicles the life and times of Mohandas Gandhi s life This book uses a mixture of photos and picture, both recreations and primary sources It also includes maps, and a timeline that runs along the bottom of the book The layout of this National Geographic book is impressive and there are many valuable pieces of information after reading the words on the page This story also reveals Ghandi s young life I was unaware that Gandhi was the son of a Pri [...]

  5. Summary The life of M Gandhi from the early years and on to his role as an important leader The book is broken into chapters from when he was growing up, to his time in school, his political work and return to India, asnd then on to his struggles as a nonviolent leader.Personal Response This book was enjoyable, and I think Philip Wilkinsin did a good job with the usage of illustrations and the timeline on the bottom of the pages.Curriculum Connection History, Biography project, research project, [...]

  6. Short biography with lots of photos I like the visual format which allows me to learn about a famous person quickly A vegetarian lawyer who worked to liberate India from English domination and find a peaceful solution to disagreements between Hindus and radical Muslims The Middle East is full of ethnic minorities which leads to instability This book was written for children it did not mention Ghandi s romantic relationship with another man while he was still married.

  7. This book tells a lot about Gandhi I really enjoyed it because he helped free the country in which I was born in Which was India This book really describes the events from how Gandhi grew up to how he died After reading this book I wondered how my life would have been like if Gandhi hadn t freed the country I am thankful that Gandhi freed India There s another thing I can add to my 1,000 gifts list.I loved this book.

  10. The book was very interesting It talked about Gandhi s childhood and what he did to free India form the British The most Interesting part is when Gandhi is leading his country into freedom from the British.

  11. Quite a long and detailed view of the man by the man himself He tries to be honest about his assessments I would have liked to read a book by his wife about him It seems she bore the burden of a lot of his big ideas.

  12. Despite blurring the line between tall tale and history this book was an entertaining and informative read Designed for middle grades this is a good biography, but young readers must be warned to read it critically.

  13. Nice late junior intermediate biography of India s great leader Full of facts, maps and pictures this is a must for teachers studying Gandhi and or heroes.
