Comments Barney's Horse

  1. Back before cities got really huge people used horses and buggies to sell produce in neighborhoods The horse and owner usually become friends with the neighborhood families But in this story the train comes to the city As the loud smoky thing comes in it scares Barney s horse and he runs But everyone likes him so much they catch him and lets him know things were going to be okay.

  2. I Can Read Book Level 1 PreS Grade 1Turn of the century early reader about the advanced technology trains street cars scaring the current technology of the day horses Probably a little too dated for kids these days.

  3. Easy book to read for beginning readers Illustrations are simple but eye appealing The book shows compassion Barney, the main character, has for his horse who is afraid of city noises It is important illustrate compassion for a pet, and the lengths we go to take care of them.

  4. Kinda cute story Of course the illustrations and simple charm of Syd Hoff a la Danny and the Dinosaur fame are what make this story live.

  5. Story about a man and his horse The man uses a horse to pull a wagon through town to sell Apples, Onions, and Potatoes The man loves going through town selling his items and seeing all the children It is a cute little book.

  6. This is a sweet, classic story of a bygone time, although not Syd Hoff s best book by far The illustrations, however, are every bit as perfect as those in his strongest books.
